CA Water and Power Municpal Utility

See how a CA Water and Power utility transformed their grid operations with proactive asset monitoring and predictive maintenance. PowerRunner integrates smart meter and SCADA data to identify potential issues with distribution feeders and transformers before they impact customers. The platform provides real-time insights that enhance decision-making for mission-critical systems, helping them deliver reliable power while achieving operational efficiency and cost savings through advanced grid management analytics.

Forecasting the Future with 2.4 million Smart Meters

See how a major Midwestern electric utility achieved 99.9% uptime and transformed their grid operations with over a decade of PowerRunner success. Since 2013, PowerRunner has evolved from supporting capacity allocation reporting to MISO into a comprehensive platform providing day-ahead hourly forecasts, distributed energy resource valuation, and real-time loss analysis. The utility expanded PowerRunner capabilities to include ForRunner forecasting for REP scheduling and settlements, DER asset modeling across solar, wind, battery storage, and demand response programs, plus advanced asset load analysis that aggregates AMI data to determine current and future capacity of all system assets.

2.7 M Smart Meter Grid Intelligence Deployment Transforms Energy Operations

The enterprise implementation of the PowerRunner Enterprise Platform in 2021 that now encompasses over 2.7M meters, 40,000+ distribution transformers, 3000+ feeders and thousands of other distribution sensor devices across the low voltage system. The platform now serves as the foundational system for annual planning, regulatory compliance reporting, and distribution analytics. PowerRunner processes over 2.5 billion measurements daily while supporting MISO compliance requirements, FERC 2222 reporting, and FLISR program management through integrated solutions like the Circuit Readiness Dashboard and Network Model Management system.

Smart Water Infrastructure Digitalization Initiative

The Spanish Water utility operates nearly 100,000 meters generating 2.4 million hourly data points daily, with 3% annual growth expected, plus additional SCADA system data bringing the total to over 2.5 million daily data points. The meter digitalization initiative encompasses five key use cases: Water Balance, Billing, Forecasting (demand and energy consumption), Event Management (anomaly and fraud detection), and Water Quality monitoring. This initial deployment focuses on implementing systems for Water Balance and Billing capabilities, with the remaining use cases planned for 2026 within the same comprehensive solution platform.
